1954 Godzilla - extremely rare Japan exclusive collectible no longer in production.
Flexible rubber to simulate the suit, moves and makes noise (comes with a remote). 60cm tall, 90m length.
This was sold over 2 years from 2019-21 only as subscription boxes, 100 boxes total. I only opened two boxes, did the upper teeth attachment and one foot prep. The remaining 98 boxes are unopened. We can of course verify the contents.
Each box comes with a magazine. It includes articles on the history of Godzilla, information about the Godzilla 1954 film, other kaiju information and history, details about the model's parts, various pull out posters, and the step-by-step assembly guide for that week's parts. There’s a data binder to house all the magazine and another for the supplemental information. Comes with some goodies like DVDs in some boxes. It’s in Japanese but the pictures are very easy to follow, and Google Translate pictures dispels any uncertainty.
Originally cost just under 200000yen, about $1400 at the time. Completely unopened kits are now going for minimum $1200 but up to $3000. If you try to buy this while in the US or a completed model you’ll also pay a lot more for shipping. I’m asking to $1000 OBO. This is a truly unique piece for a collection or as a standalone.
Thought I would find time for it, but with baby number two on her way it looks like these would just be sitting in my closet for another few years. Hoping someone else is up for the adventure! Could be a great Christmas present for a model building Godzilla lover 😉
